Marbelizing Wool

Had some fun on Sunday with a few yards of wool that I marbelized. Started out with quarter yard pieces. 1st set included eggplant, yellow, and blue. 2nd set included eggplant, pine green, and light green. Here are the results.

The first photo is the set that includes eggplant, yellow, and blue. I also included a photo of the wool folded against each other to show what the loops would look like. This wool is for sale on Ebay right now. If you would like to order a set directly, cost is $7.50 plus s/h.

The second photo shows the eggplant, pine green, and light green marbleized wool. This set reminds of shades found in a vineyard. I have not yet listed this wool, but again, you may purchase a set directly from me. I have four sets of this color combo.

Marbelizing wool is such a fun process. You need wool, a wetting agent, and vinegar (to set the color). Layer the wool (with the likely bleeder) in between the other two. Then fold, roll it, twist, etc. and simmer until the water runs clear.

your marbelized wools are just beautiful and what a great process with no chemicals. Sounds like fun.

It is fun to see what you get when you untwist the wool. The best part is that it is a great place for a beginner to start dyeing.

Never really have seen swirling in wool like that. Can you share the "blender" you used?

If not, I understand.
Just found your blog today and really enjoy it.
Thanks

All you need is three pieces of wool, with at least one being a bleeder. The wool that "bleeds" will put color on the two other pieces. You need to twist the three pieces together and somehow fasten together and simmer til the water runs clear (around 25 minutes). Add vinegar during the simmering process. If you need any more help, let me know.
