Loopy Ladies

I have been lucky enough to be invited to join a group of hookers who meet on Wednesday at our local Senior Citizens Center. What a great group! They call themselves the Loopy Ladies, and I guess that now applies to me, too.

In addition to the camaraderie, I've also been asked to sell wool to those members who don't have a source for dyed wool. An added bonus!

It was a bit of a shock to think I had to join the Senior Citizens in order to attend. I just turned 54 and was surprised that I am eligible. 50 is their minimum age. Enough said about that!

Got to bring the rug I completed for Gene Shepard's blog challenge last year to be displayed for the center's open house next week. These gals are very active!

Anyway, so happy to be in a group again. I'm sure I'll get more hooking done, and will definitely be inspired by the others' work.

Joining a group of senior hookers is a bonus in itself. They are a great bunch and it's nice that you can add them to your list of wool customers.

On my first weekend at the 3rd Annual Maritime Fibre Arts Retreat I met a great senior lady by the name of Doris Eaton who is featured in the Rug Hooking Vol XXII number 5. The article is called The Artistry of Doris Eaton. She has just published a book and it will be available on June 15th. I can't remember the name of the book as I was busy taking photos of the large number fibre artists. JB

I forgot to mention that this retreat was held in Nova Scotia, Canada at the Atlantica Hotel and Marina Oak Island Resort. JB

Thanks for mentioning the book. I'll look for it on Amazon.com.

Sounds like a great event. There aren't a lot of fiber shows close by me, but there are some nice sheep and wool festivals in the fall.

It is wonderful being a part of a group! You will have so much fun and I bet they are appreciative having a source for some lovely hand dyed wool!
You'll have to keep us posted on what everyone is working on!
