Rug Hooker Interview

Here's an interesting interview I found with hooker Alice Moores.

Details from the Web site:

Traditional mat hooker Alice Moores, of Red Bay Labrador, interviewed by Dale Gilbert Jarvis, Intangible Cultural Heritage Development Officer for the Heritage Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador (HFNL). Recorded July 19, 2008 in L'Anse au Loup, Labrador, Canada, as part of a community workshop on Intangible Cultural Heritage, sponsored by HFNL and Smart Labrador.

Run time is approximately 16 minutes. Enjoy!

Making Progress

Even with the hot days of summer in full swing, I've been sneaking some hooking in here and there. My Karla Gerard pattern, "By the Sea" is coming along nicely.

I'm trying to use soft colors, but I'm not sure I can keep that up! I just love the brights!! Anyway, here is where I'm at with the rug.

Fantastic bird sighting

Visited the Parker Wildlife Refuge on Plum Island in Massachusetts this week. It is one of my favorite places in the world! Saw lots of birds, had lobster -- a wonderful visit.

Here is one of the amazing birds we found. It is a Yellow-crowned Night Heron sighted midday resting in the reeds. What a beautiful bird.

Hope your summer is off to a good start!
